Asplenium preussii  Hieron ex Brause

   This species has an erect rhizome with tufted fronds. The fronds are  2-pinnatifid, proliferous near the apex, the apical segment above the proliferating but has more than 5 lobes. The lamina (220-420 x 45-130 mm) is narrowly elliptic in outline.Pinnae with 6 or more basiscopic pinnae lobes; the first arissing between the 1st-2nd acroscopic lobes. Pinnae variable, from shallowly incised to strongly pinnatifid into narrow simple lobes. The basal lobe pointing towards the apex is free, 4-fid and larger than the other lobes. One linear sori set along the veins, indusiate.   
Ecology: Rare fern in evergreen forest, terrestrial in leaf litter on forest floor, 1100-1650m
Derivation of the specific name: Preussii:  named after P.R. Preuss (1861-?), botanist & plant collector
Distribution in southern Africa: Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa
