    A delicate fern with erect rhizome and tuffed fronds, fronds not proliferous. Lamina (150-400 x 40-150mm) glabrous or with few brown scales on te undersurface along costa, 2-pinnate to 4-pinnatifid, elliptic in outline. Sori not marginal more than one per lobe, indusium entire. 

Ecology: Terrestrial or lithophyte in deeply shaded forest floor in evergreen forest, 1200-2040m
Derivation of the specific name: lobatum : this fern has a seperate acroscopic lobe on each pinnule
Distribution in southern Africa: Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa
